The start of the year has been a busy one so it’s taken me nearly three months to finally announce that I received some exciting news from the editors at Minted.com at the end of last year.
I was officially welcomed into the CMYK: Minted Top Artist’s Program! This honor is awarded to artists who have 50 or more wins in Minted competitions (click here if you’re a stickler for details and want to know more). When I first started submitting designs to Minted in March 2014, I would never have guessed that I would one day be a part of CMYK. It seemed like some far fetched design dream and I’m humbled and excited to be a part of it now.
As a new mother who had recently left behind a “corporate” design job, I worried that my career would have to take a back seat. I stumbled upon Minted when I received an invitation to a friend’s baby shower in the mail. I happened to turn it over and saw those tiny words: “community designed by...”. I had to know what that meant so I went straight to my computer and looked it up. When I found the competition entry details on Minted’s website, I began submitting work soon after. I didn’t receive any wins in the first two challenges I entered, but I felt encouraged to keep trying by some of the amazing other Minted artist’s I’d met. I finally received the good news that a drawing I submitted to an art challenge had received an editor’s pick. I was hooked. I’ve learned so much through the generosity of the Minted team and the entire design community and am grateful to be a part of it.
This year, I’m looking forward to continuing to grow with Minted and to expanding my studio shop on Zazzle.com as well. Thanks for following along!
